Problem:
A 65-year-old male with a personal history of HTN and asthma was seen for SOB and productive cough at an urgent care. Patient is a smoker and drinks socially. Blood pressure is 140/87 with RR 28 BPM and temp 102.3F The patients O2 saturation is at 87% on room air. On exam lung sounds are diminished. Sternal retractions noted with inspiration and patients' skin is pale and warm to touch. A CXR is ordered, and findings reveal infiltrates consistent with pneumonia. The physician orders a sputum culture, and it is sent out. Antibiotic is ordered to get started while sputum culture results are pending. Patient is to follow up in three days with no improvement or go to the emergency department for exacerbated difficulty with breathing. Need Assignment Help?
