Scenario

You were just hired as the new manager for remote sales employees at ABC Corp, a global company that has remote employees throughout the world. You are the third manager that they have had in less than 12 months. There has been a lot of turnover, morale is low, and monthly goals have not been met. There have been some issues between the Japanese and London teams including: poaching of top accounts, equal hunting and farming responsibilities, and employees not being available during working hours.

You have a strictly platonic friendship with a member of the London sales team. You worked at a former company together. He was the contact who referred you for this position before he transferred back home to the UK. Some of the other members of your team are aware of your friendship and you've heard rumors about people saying that you will give him the top performing accounts.

You are preparing to introduce yourself to each member of the team and to communicate expectations over the next month. Your goal is to start to build relationships and establish a foundation of trust, but you also need to set expectations, not show any favoritism, and get employees motivated and engaged. You decide to make a video that each employee can access from a shared cloud. You need to get grounded in your new role and help your team work together as one.

Task

Develop a comprehensive plan to get you and your team acclimated.

Include the following:

A. Make a cover letter that you submitted with your application and resume for your position (this will help your team understand your professional background).

B. Make an outline regarding topics and strategies that you want to discuss with your team.

C. Explain which specific management and leadership skills will be needed to lead your new team.

D. Discuss how you apply business and financial acumen to your decision-making process.

E. Write an executive summary outlining why you'd like to hire a new sales person from Brazil to drive sales growth in the recently declining Latin America market.

F. Make an introduction video to send to your remote sales employees comprised of men and women, ranging in age from 22 through 63, located in Los Angeles, New York, Japan, and London catering to the cultural diversity of each.

G. Make a follow-up document to the video that describes when and how you will follow up.

H. Make an appropriate team building event that you could integrate over the next month.
