Every year, Fortune magazine partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. Last year, 280 firms participated in the survey. To pick the "100 Best Companies to Work For," Fortune uses nine (9) standards to evaluate the companies, including:

1. quality of management

2. quality of products and services

3. innovation

4. long-term investment value

5. financial soundness

6. responsibility to community and environment

7. wise use of corporate assets

8. global business knowledge

9. ability to attract, develop, and retain talent

A company's overall ranking is based on the average of the scores in all nine (9) categories.

For the final:

Note: As you look through the list, click on some companies that are not familiar to you and look through the company's page for information on such things as: company ranking for Best Company for Millennials to Work For; company ranking for Best Bosses to Work For.

2. From the list of the top 50 companies:

a. choose a company (NOT Google or Wegmans) that interests you

b. review the related Fortune web page and the company's website.

3. Based on what you can learn from:

a. the Fortune web page

b. the company's website

c. the readings/discussion boards over the last few months

Identify and Analyze why you think your company is the best company to work for based on aspects of HRM practices we've discussed this semester (see the list of practices in the first statement following):

Content of material on which you will be graded:

HRM practices include the following eight (8) areas:

• Culture

• Recruitment

• Training

• Performance Management

• Employee Relations

• Compensation

• Benefits

• Diversity

Select at least three (3) of the above HR areas. For your paper

a. Summarize the company's practices for each area AND

b. Relate the HRM practices to the company's business strategy and success (e.g., how is the practice implemented, used, incorporated,
developed, measured)
