Assignment:
This assignment addresses the following NAEYC Standards:
· Know and understand the multiple influences on development and learning
· Know about and understand diverse family and community characteristics
Think back to when you were sitting in a classroom. How did you learn things best? Human beings have three main ways to take in new information: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. For most of us, one of these ways is dominant and the other two are weaker.

- Like to see what they are learning
- Ask a lot of questions
- Need to be active and take frequent breaks
- Often close their eyes to visualize or remember something
- Like to tell stories or jokes
- Speak with their hands and with gestures
- Benefit from illustrations and presentations that use color
- Often talk to themselves when approaching a new task
- Rely on what they can directly experience or perform
- Are attracted to written or spoken language rich in imagery
- Narrate own actions
- Are uncomfortable in classrooms where they lack opportunities for hands-on experiences
- Prefer stimuli to be isolated from auditory and kinesthetic distraction

- Communicate by touching and appreciate physically expressed encouragement
- Like to read and write

3. Why is this information important to know as you work with young children?
Part 3 : Select a children's book - post the title of the book and author, as well as the ages of the children that you would share it with. Post three examples of activities that you could do to accompany the book, that would reach students with each of the different learning styles - visual, auditory and kinesthetic.
