In Chapter 2 of our text, in the second bullet on p. 33, the author's state:
...but for now let us say that traditional schools tend to neither emphasize understanding or meeting the needs of different student cultures, nor help students from different cultures to learn together. Ignoring the difference between student cultures can lead to some students feeling they are not welcome at school, student frustrations, and conflicts among students and between students and teachers, all of which can lead to a negative educational environment for students and teachers.
