Who: If assigned, each person will individually complete and submit this assignment.

What: This assignment will take you through several steps to help ensure that you have a robust understanding of yourself and what is important to you personally.

When: The due date and time are posted in the syllabus. You can submit the assignment early. However, you will not be permitted to submit the assignment late.

Why: Some say that one cannot effectively manage and lead others effectively unless he or she first has a thorough understanding of him- or herself.

How: Research, discover, think, re-think, reflect, have fun. Begin your answers immediately after each question. Begin your answer immediately after the question. Do not delete the instructions. If you choose, you may change the color of your ink and/or change to italics to help make your answer stand out. Plan to write about 3-5 pages or so including these instructions and questions.

1. The table shown below illustrates your lifeline. It has a beginning and an end. Mark the cell on the line, which you think best represents where you are today in your life span. Refer to it over the weeks that come.

2. After thinking about approximately where you fall on the lifeline, write three or four of your initial reactions to this point in your life span. One-word initial reactions is fine.

3. Discuss briefly your past, where you are now, and where you are headed in the future. A few paragraphs is fine.

4. Reflecting on your past for a moment, discuss any major turning pointsand/or lessons learned. Major turning points and/or lessons learned can be either positive or negative. Length is up to you.

5. What did you gain from these turning points and/or lessons in terms of wisdom to apply either now or in the future? Whether positive or negative at the time, turning points and/or lessons learned should provide positive guidance for the future. Writing a few sentences is fine. Guidance for the future should be condensed into short and concise statements.

6. Are you about where you thought you would be at this point? Discuss why or why not.
