Discuss an isothermal compressibility

Discuss the below:

Q1) When pressure is applied to a liquid, its volume decreases. Assuming that the isothermal compressibility is independent of pressure, derive an expression for the volume as a function of pressure.

KT= -1/V (∂V/∂p)T

[V(p)=V(po)exp{-KT(p-po)}]

Q2) Calculate alpha and the isothermal compressibility KT

i) for an ideal gas  [α=1/T;KT=1/p]

ii) for a gas for which P(Vm - b) = RT

p(Vm-b)=RT.[α=1/T(1-(b/Vm); KT-1/p (i-(b/Vm)]
