Discuss about six keys to successful collaboration

Assignment:

With Universal Design for Learning (UDL) there are three guiding principles...multiple means of representation (how you present and provide information), multiple means of action & expression (how they tell you what they know), and multiple means of engagement (how you engage them). The following link provides a wealth of information regarding ways to ensure students are provided a myriad of opportunities to demonstrate what they know in a way supported by individual strengths. This also means that every student may not be demonstrating their knowledge in the same way...a facet which makes teachers uncomfortable at times.

Please, share how UDL is used in your work environment.

What are different ways students can demonstrate knowledge within the same assignment?

How do teachers provide those multiple means of expression?

Collaboration among teachers can be wonderful as individuals step out of their individual boxes and create new ones...but it can also be extremely challenging if there are hidden agendas and differing perspectives blocking communication.

Education Week Teacher produced an article entitled "Six Keys to Successful Collaboration" (by Braden Welborne, 2011) addressing ways to ensure success.

These keys included:

1) Clarity of Purpose,

2) Individual Committment,

3) Time,

4) Understanding how to Communicate and Collaborate,

5) Supportive Administrators, and

6) Freedom to Explore.

The article also emphasized the use of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) which are being used in many districts to support collaboration among teacher as well.

Your opinion and insight you might have on collaboration.
