Discuss about leadership styles

Assignment:

Instructions

For this assignment you will respond to one of the bioethical and political scenarios presented below. You must describe how you would effectively and ethically react to and manage the situation presented, including what you would and would not do (and why). Be sure to explicitly apply your own leadership style, while also considering how other leadership styles or approaches may also be appropriate or inappropriate given the scenario presented (provide the pros and cons). Be sure to include two academic references to support your analysis.

The product you create can take a number of forms, and you can determine which you would prefer to use. Recommended formats are a memorandum, an incident report, or an office policy. As an administrator, you want to lay groundwork to address situations if they should present themselves again in the future, one way to do this is with effective policy. As an administrator you have many tools at your disposal, for example, you may decide that a policy is required to address the situation, or an interoffice memorandum or incident report. Be sure to consider the format and appropriate audience for each of these forms of communication when drafting your work. Refer to the resources provided for additional support.

Scenario 1:

You are the manager of Diagnostic Imaging how do you handle the situation learning what you have learned from the various leadership styles.

A 18 yr old male presents in the ER and is transported to the Diagnostic Imaging Department handcuffed to a gurney with 2 police escorts. The patient is drunk, confused, and has no idea where he is, how he got there, or why. The patient was arrested when he was driving drunk and slammed into the car in front of him killing a mother and her 7 year daughter. The patient suffered head trauma when his head hit the windshield because he was not wearing a seatbelt. Your Lead CT Tech refuses to do the head CT with and without contrast on the 18 yo male patient. There is no other CT tech at the facility at this time. The CT Tech has been with the hospital for over 20 years and is highly skilled in her profession. The rest of the staff looks up to her and she is the leader within the CT department. Staff respect her but are also intimidated by her. The CT tech is angry with the patient and feels that he is getting what he deserved. You have never had any issues with this technician but now she is outwardly upset. How will you address this situation?

Scenario 2:

You are the healthcare administrator of a nursing home. You are informed by your Admissions Director that a new memory-impaired resident has been admitted into your long-term care unit. The staff is concerned about the involvement of family with your resident. Family members from out-of-town arrived and expressed concern about your resident's do not resuscitate (DNR) orders which were authorized by the Power of Attorney of another family member. A quarrel erupts in the nursing home with family members voicing their opinions loudly. You arrive on the scene and are immediately told by the visiting family member, "Do you know who I am? I am a supervisor for the Department of Health and Human Services and will not hesitate to have your facility surveyed for noncompliance." What do you do?
