Problem:
Another concept which i found interesting is Self Concept which we did in week 3 Module 1. Self concept is how we see ourselves. The relatively stable set of perceptions individuals hold about themselves. It includes our values, personality, thoughts, who we are. As an educator we need to communicate with children as well as parents. Our positive attitude will show us who we are. Children learn what they see. If we as an educator feel positive and confidence about ourself we will create a supportive environment. I need to be clear about my thoughts and communication style then only i will be able to express myself. Positive and confident communication can build strong and healthy relationship. For example: If i see a child is struggling to put on jacket. I would approach child and might say, " It seems like you are doing your best and I know you got this". This will help child to build confidence in themselves. Positive feedback is always important to build trust and have strong connections. I do beleive myself which reflects my work at daycare. I have build strong connections with children as well as parents. I do apply self concept communication with my children. For example: at our circle time or at clean up time we always help each other and I use to praise child by saying, "Thank you for your help, i am so proud of you. You are such a great helper." This makes child feel special and happy which build trust and confidence in them. And through this, child learn to have positive and friendly attitude towards other children and they communicate more confidently.
Overall self concept plays a big role in development of child's personality and communication. This results in effective interaction and build healthy relationships. Need Assignment Help?
