Developing the improving and controlling plan

Assignment Task: You have now done the job of the Greenbelt in measuring and analyzing the data and it is time to talk about the Improvement Stage.  Six Sigma is grounded in making process improvement changes that are based on analysis.  So please, do not dream up any new improvements that you do not have data to support.  In this module you are developing the first part of the Improving and Controlling Plan.  Here is what you need to accomplish:

1. Review your data analysis and determine which items you think could be changed and what effect they might have on the days of lost work.  Try to forecast what the effect might be.

2. Ensure that you have data that supports your decision.

3. Prioritize your efforts based on the anticipated level of effect.

4. Document your Improvement Plan.  The Improvement Plan includes the following sections:

  • Introduction that tells why improvement is necessary
  • Summarize the Team Charter
  • Give analysis that supports a potential improvement area.
  • Make a recommendation for improvement
  • List metrics you are going to use to track improvement
  • Discuss the anticipated effect that it will have.
