What would be the COP of this idealized heat pump? What is the entropy change of the house? What is the entropy change of the environment? Since this is a completely reversible heat pump you know that the total entropy generation of this entire heating process would be zero. Now assume a contractor claims to be able to get the same heat transfer rate as the heat pump from about between the same two temperatures, by using a 22 kW heat pump unit. What would be the total entropy generation of the house and environment in this situation? Given these entropy generations determine that total entropy generation for this process. Given this entropy generation , is the contractors claim valid?
