Determine the value of the test statistic

DDT is an insecticide that accumulates up food chain. Predator birds can be contaminated with the quite high levels of chemical by eating many lightly contaminated prey. One effect of DDT on birds is to inhibit the production of enzyme carbonic anhydrase which controls calcium metabolism. It is thinked that this causes egg shells to be thinner as well as weaker than normal and makes the egg more prone to breakage. An experiment was conducted where 16 sparrow hawks were fed the mixture of 3 parts per million (ppm) of dieldrin and 15 ppm DDT (a combination frequently found in contaminated prey). The first egg laid by each bird was measured and mean shell thickness was found to be 0.19 mm. A normal egg shell is normally distributed with the mean thickness of 0.2 mm with sigma = .01 mm. Determine the value of the test statistic for H0: Mu = 0.2 vs. H1: Mu not equal to 0.2?

A. -1.00

B. -4.00

C. 0.01

D. 1.96

E. 1.75

F. none of the above
