Determine the probability of x

Discuss the below:

1. Suppose we want to determine the (binomial) probability (p) of getting 8 heads in 10 flips of a 2-sided coin. Using the binomial probability table in the appendix of the text, what values of n, v, and p would we use to look up this probability and what would be the probability?

2. If x is a binomial random variable, use the binomial table to determine the probability of x for each of the following:

a. n=10, x=8, p=0.3

b. n=8, x=7, p=0.95

3. A candy company claims that 11% of its plain candies are orange and a sample of 200 such candies are randomly selected. Find the mean and standard deviation for the number of orange candies in such groups of 200.

4. If we consider an experiment of generating 196 births and recording the genders of the babies, the mean number of girls is 98 and the standard deviation is 7 girls. Would it be unusual to get 110 girls in 196 births? Why or why not?

5. Determine whether the following probability experiment represents a binomial experiment and explain the reason for the answer.
