Determine the cell emf for electrolysis of molten

1. Determine the cell emf (Eocell) for electrolysis of molten nickel (II) iodide?(Use Eo values from Appendix E of your lecture text).

2. Determine at what reactions would take place at the cathode and anode during the electrolysis of an aqueous solution of nickel (II) iodide?

3. Using the Nernst Equation (Ecell =Eocell - [(0.0592/n)logQ] where n =#e- transferred), Describe the Ecell at 25 C for electrolysis of aqueous sodium chloride if the concentration of chlorine in the brine solution is 4.5 M and the partial pressure of Cl2 is 0.001 atmospheres.

4. Chlorine will impulsively react with the iodide to make chloride and iodine. Determine the Eo for this reaction.
