Designing a gameplay mechanic based on real-world research

In this assignment, you will be designing a gameplay mechanic based on real-world research of your choosing.

First, find an aspect of reality you find interesting. It could be anything from squirrel migration patterns to blood types to the movement of celestial bodies. Find research on this topic, especially research that has lots of numbers and statistics. Use your research to create specific rules that add up to a gameplay mechanic.

The mechanic doesn't have to be the primary mode of play. It just has to be a system that follows specific rules that you could integrate into an actual game.

E.g. Bullet behaviour. Most bullets travel faster than the speed of sound. Therefore, I am going to build a game where the gunshot sound plays after the weapon has been fired. There will be a delay of 1 second per 100 kph over the speed of sound.
