Design a combination logic circuit which has one output


Problem

Design a combination logic circuit which has one output , Z, and a 4 bit input ABCD representing a binary number.

Z should be 1 iff the input is atleast 5, but is no greater than 11. Note: SOP has 1st column is comprised of 'AND' gates that sum into a single 'OR' gate (2nd column)

Hint: SOP format or a minterm expansion. Simply minterm expansion using Boolean theorems. See sample problem 4.13 worked in the "Sample Problems" Tab section for reference.
Show your work!

• Derive and Include the Truth Table --> then generate the SOP terms
• Show the ZSOP expansion, output equation in terms of inputs ABCD
• Using Boolean theorems simplify ZSOP ( Three AND Gates and one OR Gate).
