Describe the overall goals of the interventionexplain the

Your GROUP will present a plausible intervention to address the health problem that you selected for your topic, population, and setting. The intervention will be based on selected concepts of individual-, interpersonal- and community-level theories and related ecological approaches that we discuss in class.

Specific criteria:

You will present the following

1. Introduction: Clearly introduce

• The title of your project

• The members of your group

• The population on which you focused

• The setting in which your intervention will take place

• The health problem on which you focused

• The health behaviors that your intervention will address.

2. Introduction to the health problem

• Based on the literature from your three presentations to other small groups, explain why this health problem exists in the population on which you have selected to focus.

• Include a discussion of

o Demographic and behavioral characteristics that put this population at risk

o Setting characteristics that contribute to the health problem

o Ecological context of the problem: Disparities, broader community context

3. Brief description of the three theories chosen to apply in your intervention

• One each: Individual-, interpersonal-, and community-level theory/model

• Include at least one construct on which your intervention is based.

• Explain your rationale for selecting each construct (why is it most relevant/useful?) Use evidence-based literature to explain why these constructs are applicable to your project.

4. Description of the Intervention

• Describe the overall goals of the intervention

• Explain the set-up and management of the intervention. (How will you get this going?) Include the following:

o How do you begin? (Planning)

o Who is on your implementation team? (Expertise? Gatekeepers?)

o What personnel, agencies, organizations, coalitions, etc., will help you and how will you engage them?

o What logistical resources do you need (other than money), such as site for intervention? How will you obtain this?

o What kind of funding will you need? How will you get it? (Be reasonable here.)

o How will you ensure participation?

o How will you address issues of access, quality, and cost?

• Describe the specific activities of the intervention

o For each activity, explain how the different theories' constructs support it

o Include how you used a logic model approach to narrow your focus.

5. Explain how you will evaluate whether or not the program was successful

• Include a discussion of process, impact, and outcome evaluation here: How does each apply to your intervention? What can you evaluate and what can you not? Which are beyond the scope of your intervention?

6. Include a closing discussion of how well your intervention addresses the selected behavioral situation in the population and setting

• You are making an argument for funding of your intervention program: Acknowledge the limitations, but highlight the strengths and potential for sustainability of it.

• End with a respectful request for consideration of funding.

Presentation details:

The oral presentation should be a total of 20-minutes in length, with an additional 10 minutes for discussion and evaluation by the class.

Each student in your group should present a section of the work and contribute to class discussion. Groups should ensure that work is distributed equally among group members. (In your work plan, identify which students are responsible for each part.)

You are presenting as if you were requesting funding for this intervention. Address the audience accordingly. The class will be evaluating how well you address each of the items above and ask questions about your project.

Consider and prepare answers to potential problems or barriers so that you can respond to questions.
