A. In your initial post, perform a brief organizational analysis. Write one brief paragraph for each of the following five categories. Note, the questions included are to help guide you in the critical thinking process. For SNF in New Jersey

a. Describe the external environment: describe the city/town in which your setting in terms of population, the health care competitors, the overall business climate (unemployment rates, for example), median income.

b. Describe your organization: what is the mission, vision, and values of your organization? Provide the written statements if they exist. Is there a difference between the perceptions of the top management and the employees? How are the mission, vision and values demonstrated in the community?

c. Describe the leadership and organizational structures within your organization. Include an organizational chart. Who provides overall direction for the organization? Who are the role models? Describe their style of leadership.

d. Describe the organizational culture of your setting. Include overt and covert rules, values, customs, and principles that guide organizational behavior.

e. Describe the work unit climate-include such things as the degree of collegiality and teamwork. What are the systems for rewards and performance appraisal? Briefly describe the role of the human resources department. How visible is it to employees? How are the individual needs and values of employees recognized? Describe the morale and motivation of staff.

B. Identify a need for change at your facility, give a brief description of this need then perform and post a SWOT analysis to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to this need.
