Describe the colonists ethical response to foreign subjugat

Problem: Make this paragraph flow better: The colonists' ethical response to foreign subjugation, characterized by their relentless pursuit of freedom and justice, ignited a spirit of nationalism that ultimately led to revolution, demonstrating the power of collective resistance against oppressive forces. The colonists were often subjected to abuse and violations of their rights by the conquerors including forced labor, unfair trials, and restrictions on their freedoms of speech and assembly. As many as two-thirds of all the Europeans who came to Britain's North American colonies were indentured servants who were separated from their families and forced to work 60-80 hours a week. The colonists wanted to establish a society where their rights and freedoms were respected and protected. The colonists were often required to pay high taxes and their trade was heavily regulated, which limited their economic growth and prosperity. Even if they were not doing trade with the British Empire, if they sailed to their ports, they would have all of their goods taxed. The colonists wanted economic freedom to trade with whomever they wanted and to keep the profits of their labor leading to the War of 1812. The colonists were tired of being ruled by distant powers who were often seen as out of touch with the realities of life in the colonies. They wanted the ability to govern themselves, make their own laws, and manage their own resources. To do this, in 1776 the Declaration of Independence was implemented freeing the colonists from British rule and allowing them to be independent.
