Assignment: Grant Proposal Guidelines
Based on your understanding of the agency, the community, and population served you are to identify a service need and develop a grant proposal that will address this need. Below is a suggested outline to help you develop this proposal. The proposal should be around 5 pages. The budget can be embedded in the narrative of the document or submitted as a separate appendix.

1. Statement of Need. Describe the problem. Consider the following: How long has the problem been occurring? Is it long standing or a new phenomenon? Who does it affect (individuals, families, communities orother unique characteristics (race/ethnicity, socio-economic status, disability, etc...)? How did you assess the need for this project? Were service recipients consulted? Did you explore if the need may be addressed elsewhere in the community? Is there a gap in services? Were others consulted in the agency or community regarding your assessment of need? What will happen if this problem is not address (consider costs to community, society, social justice issues, etc...). Include agency and/or community statistics if available and relevant.
2. Alignment with Agency Mission. Describe the agency's mission and offer a rational(s) how this project aligns with the mission. Discuss why your agency is particularly suited to address this need.
3. Project Description. Describe how this project will help meet the need described above.When describing the project, include thetarget population, goals, objectives, action steps, time frame, number of participants, geographic area.
4. Evaluation/Indicators. How will you measure the project's success? What data will you collect and how will you collect it? What outcome will tell you and the funder that the project made a positive difference?
5. Budget. Describe how the funds will be spent. Categorize and list all expenses. May want to consider including resources that may not be monetary. Budget is realistic and not over or under inflated. Presented with sufficient detail.
6. Conclusion. Make your final appeal. Underscore the need for funding. Call attention to the future if funding is received.
