For Alex is a 9-year-old minimally vocal autistic child who has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).  At the age of 5, Alex was diagnosed with f84.0 Autistic.  Alex currently attends Woodlawn Elementary in the city of Moreno Valley, CA and is enrolled in a specialized kindergarten program designed for children with developmental delays and communication challenges. 

Mrs. Mora (mother) is seeking behavioral intervention services for her son due to deficits in communication, self-help, safety awareness and self-regulation.  During consultation with Mrs. Mora, she expressed specific concerns with Alex's inability to self-regulate, leading Alex to have 'tantrums' in school, at home and during community outings.  Alex's "tantrum" behavior is defined as "Any instance of in which Alex engages in as crying with or without tears, whining, yelling, hitting with open or closed hands, hand flapping, kicking, biting, and flopping to the floor.
