The business environment presents opportunities and threats to all retailers. Select any retailer and follow the checklist below to detail how these concepts impact its ability to serve its customers. Be sure to complete the Learning Activities before starting the Assignment.

• Discuss consumer demographics (do research at the U.S. Census database on population and lifestyles) and how these are tied to consumer behavior. Explain what a retailer must keep in mind to better serve its customers.

• How might the economic environment affect media decisions?

• Describe social media trends that might impact the retailer you chose.

Go to your chosen retailer's website:

• Describe any of the sales promotion tools from the list in your textbook (Figure 19-9) that you see used on your chosen retailer's website.

• Explain how the Internet presents a promotional opportunity for your chosen retailer and why.

• Discuss how your chosen retailer uses advertising media. Provide three examples.
