Problem: Hypertension is a prolonged elevation in blood pressure. It is one of the most prevalent chronic health conditions in the United States, affecting 45.6% of U.S. adults (AHA, 2017); hypertension is prevalent worldwide. Hypertension is the leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease (e.g., coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, heart failure, and stroke). The incidence of hypertension in U.S. youth aged 12-19 years is 4%, which is a decline from previous statistics (CDC, 2018). The young with hypertension are more likely to be obese. Cardiovascular risk (e.g., hypertension, obesity, and diabetes) in the young often continues into adulthood. In adults and the young, hypertension is higher in non-Hispanic Blacks and Hispanics in comparison to non-Hispanic Whites. Men and boys have a higher incidence; however, the incidence in women after menopause (e.g., around 55 years old) is similar to men. Need Assignment Help?
