Critiquing eloquence please avoid taking the critiquing

Assignment

The process for critiquing papers is simple as long as each of you reads the requirements. Each critique will be done in Microsoft Word "Track Changes" and will be posted the following module on the discussion board in the area identified as "Critique of Written Assignment #."

1. When you post your written exercise (for example, Written Exercise 3 during Module 3) on the discussion board, you are to post it as an attachment using Microsoft Word. Your instructor will grade your paper as normal and that grade will be reflected only in your individual grade book. The instructor will make comments, but these comments will be general in nature.

2. You will then download your partner's paper and begin to critique it using Microsoft Word Track Changes. You will be looking for grammatical errors, content errors, APA formatting errors, and scholarly writing. Your critique is to be complete, as you will be graded on how well you provided feedback.

3. You will then post the critique as an attached Word document containing your feedback using Track Changes on the discussion board in the area identified as "Critique of Written Assignment #." The board will always be listed in the following module's menu (e.g., the "Critique of Written Assignment 3" board will be under Module 4). This will allow you to have a full week to critique each paper.

4. The individual that has been critiqued will be able to review the feedback and hopefully gain further insight and learning. The paper is not to be redone or reposted. The critique is only for your information, though the individual who has performed the critique will receive a grade for this activity.

5. On the Article for Publication, the process will be slightly different. By Module 5 your Article for Publication Draft is to be posted as an attachment in the discussion board identified as "Article for Publication Draft."

6. You will then download your partner's Article for Publication Draft and begin to critique it using Microsoft Word Track Changes. You will be looking for grammatical errors, content errors, APA formatting errors, and scholarly writing. Your critique is to be complete, as you will be graded on how well you provided feedback.

7. You will post the critique as an attached Word document containing your feedback using Track Changes on the discussion board in the area identified as "Critique of Article for Publication". The area will be listed on the following module's section. This will allow you to have a full week to critique the article.

8. Your instructor may critique papers that are posted to the discussion board to promote student learning.

Critiquing Eloquence: Please avoid taking the critiquing process personally. This is strictly being used to provide critical feedback to your work. As a graduate student, you will be evaluated on your writing and these exercises will hopefully prepare you for this journey and enable you to improve your writing skills. Do not use sarcasm or derogatory wording when critiquing. If you read your paper and do not agree with the assessment, you can converse with your critiquing partner if you wish.

There is no need to have a discussion or to do a reprint. Any comments made on your papers do not have to be accepted, meaning that you do not have to make the suggested changes. Again, the comments are to be used as a tool. It is your instructor's sincere hope that this process will assist you in two ways: learning how to develop a quality paper and identifying potential problems in your own writing.
