Create an outline of assignment each section of the rubric

Create an outline of assignment. Each section of the rubric should be a section of final paper and could become the headings. Compare each section of your paper with the rubric to ensure all elements are covered. Then, include an introduction and conclusion to tie the paper together. .

The final project presents a culmination of nursing research and EBP knowledge as some students choose a qualitative or quantitative study to critically evaluate, including making a recommendation for utilization in EBP. I have choose qualitative.

In a 9-10 page paper (excluding title page and references), critically evaluate Study 4 (A striving for independence: a qualitative study of women living with vertebral fracture), Evaluate the credibility of professional citation, research design, and procedures in a research article. Include a discussion on how this study contributes to EBP.

I have incorporated the CHECKLISTS from Houser book as pertained to the Rubric

- Evaluates research design using most of the components of the evaluation checklist in Houser (2013) (p. 147).
- The design is clearly identified and described using standard language.
- A rationale is provided or can be easily inferred, for the choice of a design.
- The characteristic of the design can be clearly linked to the nature of the research question.
- If the study is qualitative in nature, the researcher has documented the basis for decisions as the design emerged.

CHECKLIST FOR EVALUATING THE ETHICAL ISSUES IN A STUDY

-Evaluates the problem statement using most of the components of the evaluation checklist in Houser (2013, p. 98)
- Development
Deductive narrowing from general focus or interest

Articulation
The problem is stated or inferred

The concern, disparity, or gap is clear

Significance
Develops,expands, or validates nursing knowledge

-Evaluates the purpose statement using most of the components of the evaluation checklist in Houser (2013, p. 99)
- DEVELOPMENT
Deductive narrowing from problem statement

ARTICULATION
The purpose is stated or inferred
The statement is provided early in the article and easy to find
The purpose is written as a statement
The statement uses an unbiased verb
The design is described
The population is defined
The setting is specified

Feasibility
Required resources (people, time, money, equipment, materials, and facilities) are accessible
Ethical issues have been considered

FIT
There is obvious alignment between purpose statement and design
There is obvious alignment between purpose statement and conceptual models or theoretical frameworks.

CHECKLIST FOR EVALUATING A LITERATURE REVIEW
-Evaluates the literature review using most of the components of the evaluation checklist in Houser (2013, p. 113)
- All or most of the major studies related to the topic of interest ate included.
- The theoretical or conceptual framework is described
- The review provides support for the importance of the study
- The authors have used primary , rather that secondary, sources.
- The review is unbiased and includes findings that are conclusive and those that have inconsistencies.
- The review ends with a summary of the most important knowledge on the topic.

CHECKLIST FOR EVALUATING THE SAMPLING STRATEGY
-Evaluates the sampling strategy using most of the components of the evaluation checklist in Houser (2015, p. 178).
- The target population is clearly and objectively identified
- Inclusion criteria are specific and relevant
- Exclusion criteria are specified to control extraneous variables
- Sampling procedures are likely to produce the best informants to answer the qualitative research question
- The sample is of adequate size , as documented by power for a quantitative study or by saturation for a qualitative study.
- Procedures for selecting the sample are specified.
- Potential for sampling bias has been identified and controlled by the researcher

CHECKLIST FOR EVALUATING THE VALIDITY OF A

RESEARCH STUDY
-Evaluates trustworthiness of data in qualitative studies using most of the checklist components in Houser 2013, p. 240, 411 and 437).
- The researchers clearly demonstrate that the intervention preceded the outcome
- Subjects were selected using objective criteria and assigned to groups randomly

CHECKLIST FOR CRITICALLY READING A QUALITATIVE RESEARCH STUDYPG.
- The central phenomenon, event, experience or conceptual basis of the study is clearly stated in the research question
- Evidence of saturation is provided to justify sample size

CHECKLIST FOR EVALUATING QUALITATIVE RESULTSPG.
- The procedure used to analyze the data is described in sufficient detail
- The analytic method used is appropriate for the qualitative tradition/design

-Evaluates how study results may (or may not) be used to inform EBP.
