Create an infographic

Assignment:

1. Create an Infographic

As stated in Chapter "Understanding how cultures differ becomes critical when we interact with people whose cultural norms differ from ours..." (Verderber, Sellnow & Verderber, 2015, p. 35). With this in mind, take the provided quizzes (attached above, along with the Sample Infographic) to determine your own time orientation, and to find out where you fall in the individualism vs. collectivism continuum. You will then chart your own data, and create a personal intercultural infographic.

Once you have created your infographic, post the png file to the Discussion Board (Choose "Click To Launch," then, "Create Thread," then from within "Messages" choose to insert a file (this is the paperclip icon within the "Messages" box) by no later than 11:59 p.m. Friday 3/16. Then visit at least two other students' infographics and comment on their choices. In approximately 100 words (for each student), reflect on what they have created. Consider how their dimensions of self are similar/different to you. By exploring other students' personal intercultural infographics, you are also exploring your future audience members in this class. All responses to posted infographics.

In order to complete this assignment/disucssion, please follow these guidelines (and view the provided sample for further clarification, and to use as a model):

• Explore any free Infographic creation sites (I chose to use Piktochart for the sample I provided. Click on this link for a Piktochart Tutorial.)

• Follow this link to the Hofstede Country Comparison Website to further explore Hofstede's dimensions, and to see how other countries compare to the United States regarding these cultural classifications.

• Take the provided quizzes (Who am I? and Time Orientation) to determine your own time orientation, and where you fall on the individualism vs. collectivism continuum. Represent this data on a chart within your infographic.

• Just like mine, your infographic must also include a graphic/information about your generation (tell us if you are a "Maturist," "Baby Boomer," or child of Generation "X," "Y," or "Z"), your favorite travel destination(s), and at least one fun fact relating to your culture or cultural adventures (for example: your own heritage/ethnicity, or something related to your travels, and/or family information, etc.).

• Download your completed Infographic as a PNG (once you choose Download-PNG, you will need to click on the arrow at the bottom left of your computer screen and choose "Show in Folder" in order to access the actual file. Choose to attach the file that contains your graphic).

• If applicable, please cite any information taken from outside sources and place appropriately within your infographic, and at the end of your Infographic in a References page.

• Correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation are expected.

• Select the "Click to Launch" link above to join the conversation.
