Create a personal development reflection and plan

Assignment:

Personal Development Reflection and Plan

Applying new knowledge and insight gained in class to your current life is a critical part of the self-management learning process. You are tasked with leveraging your critical thinking skills and your ability to apply course concepts to create a 3-4 page personal development plan (doublespaced, 12 point Times New Roman, 1 inch margins).

Your personal development and strategic plan should include:

1. Reflection of what insights you gained from this course in terms of better understanding and managing yourself and others: (about 1 page)

a) Identify your strengths and weaknesses by integrating individual differences, such as specific personality characteristics, emotional intelligence, etc.

b) What did you learn about yourself during this course that you found particularly valuable?

2. Formulate a strategic plan designed to help you establish and achieve your life goals, shaping and guiding who you are, where you are going, what you do, and how, when and why you do it. The first step to creating a strategic plan requires setting aside time to critically thinking about you and the future.

Before answering, spend some time thinking about the following questions below and jot down things that come to mind: Who am I, and why am I here? What do I want tocontribute? What did I dream of becoming? Who do I want to be in the future ... in 5

years... in 10 years? What do I value that gives real happiness? What am I passionate about that gives meaning to life? What is important to me in life, both personally and professionally? What am I doing when I feel my best? What kind of impact do I have on people now? What kind of leader do I want to be? What are my strengths and weaknesses? What skills do I have? With regard to money, how much is enough? If I have more, what will I do with it?

After spending time thinking about your answers to the questions above, create a personal strategic plan that includes the following:

a) Your story: what makes you who you are today and based on your story? Then, identify and discuss at least two and no more than three core values. Describe what they mean to you. Your story and values should be aligned. (about 1 page)

b) What is your long-term goal (Mission/Vision; e.g., who do you want to be)? This should be structured similarly to an organizational mission statement. (about 1/6 page)

c) Taking into account your mission/vision and values statements, develop a strategic plan for yourself for the next five years by first identifying long-term 5 year goal(s) (create no more than two) that are aligned with your mission and values. Then, create sub-goals of your long-term goal to accomplish in the next five years that will help you to work towards achieving your overall goal. Your goals should be SMART goals.
