Simple sentence: Weight loss programs encourage proper nutrition.
Compound sentence: Weight loss programs encourage proper nutrition; these programs also encourage consistent exercise.
Some people live to eat.
Children drink too much soda.
White bread is not a healthy food choice.
One very healthy exercise is jumping rope.
Overweight children need healthy school lunch programs.
Using Coordination to Combine Sentences
Directions: Use a coordinating conjunction (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) or a semicolon to combine the independent clauses.
