Correlation can be positive or negative. Positive correlation refers to a situation when one value increases, the other value increases also. Such as; when the sun climbs higher in the sky, the air temperature increases. Negative correlation refers to a situation when one value increases, the other value decreases and vice versa (Such as when your taxes increase, the amount of spendable income decreases).
