Reflection Paper Guide

1. For each paper, pick one of the reflection prompts given in the syllabus.

2. Think carefully about the prompt.

3. Conduct relevant research (e.g., personal observation, interviews with people, or lit reviews).

4. As you write the paper, refer to several sources in support of your claims.

5. Subdivide the paper into thematic sectionsas you see outlined here:

a. The Prompt: Write down the prompt you respond to in this paper.

b. Introduction:

i. Get attention and briefly say what you do in this paper.

ii. State your thesis, and

iii. Give a preview of what follows in the rest of the paper.

c. The body

i. Give it a thematic subtitle instead of calling it ‘the body.'

ii. Systematically respond to the given prompt here: Give your reflection in the form of several themes or recommendations.

iii. Make sure you support your claims with references to theories and/or (your) research findings.

d. Conclusion:

i. Summarize the paper briefly.

ii. What have you learned from this intellectual exercise?

iii. How does it (what you learned) relate to one or more of the learning goals set for you to obtain in this course?

e. References

i. Give citations to sources above.

ii. List here the references (two or more).

iii. Use APA style (see the www.purdueowl.com for examples of intext citations and reference lists)
