Compute work and heat transfer in quasi-equilibrium process


Air contained in a cylinder fitted with a piston is compressed in a quasi-equilibrium process. During the compression process the relation between pressure and volume is PV1.25=constant. The mass of air in the cylinder is 0.1 kg. The initial pressure is 100 kPa, and the initial temperature is 20oC. The final volume is 81of the initial volume. Determine the work and the heat transfer.
