Compute maximum tensile stress due to bar-s own weight

A 100-ft-long steel bar is suspended vertically from its upper end. The cross-sectional area of the bar is 4.0 in. squared (2 in by 2 in). The unit weight of the steel is 490 pounds per cubic foot (pcf). Compute (a) the maximum tensile stress due to the bar's own weight and (b) the maximum load P (the allowable load) that can be safeley supported at the lower end of the bar if the allowable tensile stress is 24,000 psi.
