INSTRUCTIONS
1. Choose one of the design periods / aesthetic movements listed above.
2. Research and explore your choice.
3. Answer the research questions below to demonstrate your understanding of the period.
4. Include one embedded picture with a caption (the words in your writing should include talk about the picture)
5. Responses should be in your own words. (Safe Assign will be used to check your writing).
6. 550 words max.
7. Research sources MUST be more than class material.
8. APA citations and referencing MUST be used.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
1. Explain the background and influences of the design period. Describe events and other ‘forces' behind the design movement. For example social, political and historical events / groups; discoveries and developments (technological or scientific); where the movement's ideas/styles came from e.g other countries or design movements.
2. Describe and analyse the key style features. Describe the colours, shapes, materials used, style themes (nature, war, speed, grid/layout, removing decoration etc).
3. Describe the main designers or people who influenced the design movement. Briefly LIST the main artist/designer/craftsman from the movement, what they are most remembered for, the medium they worked in or with, their characteristic style.
