Task 1 - Communication strategy

Develop and present a new communication strategy and protocols for a business 

1. Identify internal and external information needs

a. Use SWOT analysis (Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats).

b. Include stakeholders.

2. Identify competing or conflicting interests (competitors).

3. Develop range of strategies to meet needs and goals.

4. Develop a Communication Plan.

Establish communication protocols

1. Identify processes for adapting communication strategies for different contexts.

2. Develop processes and protocols in line with listed strategies.

3. Prepare information and resources to support implementation of communication protocols.

Present communication strategies

1. Present to group/staff (minimum 3 people).

2. Model effective oral and written communication.

3. Mentor and coach group/staff.

4. Maintain work-related networks and relationships.

Task 2 - Digital Media

Using the information and strategy in Task 1.

Develop a strategy for using digital media to provide information and promote the organization. 

Implement this strategy. 

Assessment Conditions

Your assessor will set up the environment with equipment and resources.  You will have access to Policies and Procedures of a workplace.

Your assessor will be looking for:

1. Interactions (with people from diverse backgrounds

2. Presentation to at least 3 people

3. Use of presentation media

1. What is traditional media?

2. List 2 types of digital media and explain etiquette and marketing requirements with regard to each type of media.

3. How could each of these types of media fit into the communication strategy of a service or business?

1. You are working for a service.  One of the clients dies in unfortunate circumstances. Describe how a crisis communication plan will assist in dealing with this situation.

2. Discuss the importance of outlaying funds for communication against return on investment.

3. Explain how political and social factors affect workplace communications.

4. Discuss the importance of technological factors in workplace communication.
