Step 1) Read your articles/texts. Take it seriously (i.e. take notes, talk about it, etc.).

Step 2) Identify the 5 most interesting/important things/points/topics and discuss why/how you think they are important.

Step 3) Consider the following scenario:You will present at a workshop called "Before You Go: Key Strategies for Gaining a Professional Edge." Your audience for the presentation is a group of seniors who are getting ready to graduate and need to know/appreciate the material in your reading(s). Audience members are there voluntarily,and you must speak to their concerns and use examples/illustrations that will be effective for them. The audience has already done the reading.

Step 4) Review Guide to Presentations, 4eand other resources on how to create effective presentations to determine how you are evaluated.

Step 5) Create an engaging and informative presentation providing action-oriented recommendations based on your assigned reading. Your job is not to regurgitate the reading. Rather your job is to pick what you think are the 5 most interesting/useful topics in the reading and share with others how to apply what you've learned in an interesting, fun, and useful way. Your focus is on application of the concepts rather than theory and concepts. It's important to establish a theme for your presentation that you could impact your PowerPoint, dress code, handouts, introduction, and activities.

Presentation Requirements

• Present at least 25 mins. to 35 mins. max. to include time for Q&A at the end. The instructor will consider proposals to extend the time limit in advance.

• Use this order for your presentation:

1. Welcome the audience and state purpose of presentation

2. Discuss the agenda

6. Give and a 5 min. quiz and collect answers

• Title the presentation "Our 5 Most Important Recommendations for __________)."

• Establish a theme for your presentation that could influence the presentation features such as the PowerPoint, dress code, handouts, and activities.

• Integrate a PowerPoint presentation with no less than 10 slides and not more than 20 slides.

• Provide a high quality,professional copy of the presentation and handouts to all audience members.

• Incorporate at least 1 learning activity (such as game or exercise) where audience participation is required in order to demonstrate a learning point from your reading.

• Incorporate at least 1 video clip based on the learning point from your reading.

• Include a references slide in APA format near the end. You don't have to speak to this slide.

• Design and deliver a timed quiz/assessment to give the audience at the end of your presentation. Allow students 3 mins. max to complete the quiz.

• Include a 5-item quiz on the final slide of the PowerPoint presentation.

o 3 questions must be fill-in-the-blank format. 1 of the fill-in-the-blank questions must be only be from the reading (not the presentation).
o 2 questions must be in short-answer format. The short answer questions must require at least a 3-sentence answer/response.

• Quiz material must be made up of things written on the slides andof topics you discuss.
• Make a key for your quiz and give me a hard copy of the key after you present.
