Problem: The film NOPE tells the story of the Haywood family, the descendants of the Jockey riding the horse in Muybridge's film, THE HORSE IN MOTION, the first film ever shown to a public audience. The Jordan Peele story is fiction, however there are a visual ideas in NOPE that connect directly to the Muybridge film. For example, Muybridge wanted to capture motion for the first time and be able to show it on film to others. There was also a gambling element behind his efforts as well. The Haywood's wanted to capture the first shot of the Alien spaceship and show it to others in hopes of getting rich with the "money shot".
