Calculate the optimum bus bar configuration for each metal

A major aluminum producer is considering the addition of a new plant which requires a 150,000 amp DC current supply. The bus bars to carry this current will run from a substation to the plant, a distance of 1,000 meter. The company is considering the use of either copper or aluminum for the bus bars. The installed cost of the aluminum bus bars is $24/kg, for copper $17/kg. Electric power is available at $0.05/kwh. The company expects that after operating for 15 years at 150,000 amp, the operating current will be increased to 300,000 amp. After that the power requirement will remain constant for the next 15 years. The company uses a MARR of 13% in all its projections. Calculate the optimum bus bar configuration (cross sectional area) for each metal, considering a 30 year study period. Calculate the installation cost and the installed weight of each option.
