Calculate methane obeys the virial equation of state


An insulated, and non-conducting tank of volume 1m3 is initially evacuated. It is connected by a valve to supply line containing methane gas at 25C and 110 bar. The valve is opened and gas is allowed to flow into the tank slowly until the pressure in the tank reaches 100 bar. Calculate the final temperature and amount of gas in the tank for the following cases:

a) Methane is an ideal gas

b) Methane obeys the Virial equation of state Z= 1+BP/(RT), where B=206.4=159/5e133/T Cp of methane is 36.5 J/mol K.
