Assignment:
You are the new Legal Liaison Officer (LLO) for your company. Many of your duties focus on consulting with your company’s attorney and reporting back to your company’s executive officers and board of directors. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of your company has tasked you with identifying a current or recent business-related controversy that has been publicized in the media and reporting on the controversy to him.
Specifically, you are required to write a memorandum to the CEO that identifies what the legal problem or issue is and how it could affect your company. Explain what options your company could pursue and why those options are good for your company. In particular, this memo should address the legal and ethical concerns of the available options along with your recommendation of what the company should do. Your recommendation should elaborate on why that course of action will best benefit the company.
This memorandum must be double-spaced and typed in a size 12 Arial font. It must be at least five pages in length but no more than 10 pages in length. Please include appropriate headings, subheadings, and page numbers so that the memo can be easily referenced (at a minimum this should include headings for Issue/Problem, Facts, Applicable Rules or Laws., and your Recommendation . You must also attach some of the articles that have appeared in popular media so that the CEO and the Board can fully understand the company’s situation.
