At the Playground
Imagine that you are a researcher interested in how schools can help to increase physical activity of children. You would like to investigate what role having organized activities available during recess plays in whether or not children participate in physical activity at school. You have decided to perform a qualitative observational research study by watching school children and their activities during a 30-minute recess period. On eight different occasions at eight different schools, you watch children at recess. View these eight photographs that represent the "pictures" you would have seen in person. Based on your observations, create a hypothesis. What evidence did you gather that supports your hypothesis? Analyze the elements that you can conclude about your hypothesis simply by your observations.
