Assignment Task: Assessing Community Healthcare Needs Class.

This is a new process for me as I am a transfer student to Metropolitan College of New York and returning to college in over twenty years; the entire concept of a CA is foreign to me. In this assignment, I am tasked to explain how my five dimension classes (although I am taking only four), have helped me to bring me from the beginning of my CA document to the middle of my CA document. All of my courses contributed positively to my CA. I am taking Macroeconomics; this class is purposed to build on the CA dealing with Market Analysis, Planning and Promotion. So far, I have learned key concepts outlined in the major areas of application of inflation, supply and demand, and unemployment to get me to the mid-point of my CA. These areas helped me to construct my CA as it relates to my research and planning phases, and situation analysis. Macroeconomics helped to develop the situation analysis in providing information on how the economic growth and productivity will affect how I want to structure my business and how it is to be organized. "Working in funeral service is generally an on-call profession with long hours, especially during evenings and weekends, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Employment in this industry is expected to grow four percent by 2028." (https://www.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/how-much-funeral-homes-make) It also focuses on who will have the most access and who would most benefit from my business in terms of how many jobs can be created influencing the socio-cultural environment of the community. In the research phase of my CA, Marketing Analysis has helped me to strategically study the funeral business in examining the size of the industry; consider major competitors by way of funeral conglomerates versus small family owned businesses, various facets of the business as requests for providing unique services increase and the economic environment-how these factors will impact its operations. The Planning education piece helped me to understand the relatability of supply and demand and inflation to my business. As the price for goods and services increase, the increase in costs will have to be passed to my customer or I will have to decrease in the quality or quantity of the service that I provide.
My Principals of Business class has allowed me to hone in on building the infrastructure of my CA at this mid-point juncture by focusing several key elements of business management. This class focuses on the Systems aspect of the CA in reference to the principles, processes, and functions of management. In Systems, I am able to identify and describe, and implement the elements of planning, organizing, and staffing. Major functional areas in this service-oriented business like the management process, marketing, technology, and human resources are components of this phase of the CA. Computer systems that will be used to make the business run like payroll, accounts payables and receivables, inventory and ordering equipment, maintenance contracts are described in this course. In staffing, human resources knowledge is essential in obtaining the most qualified candidates, knowing the employment laws, granting benefits packages are also outlined in this course. Management processes such as the type of oversight that will be instituted and authoritative hierarchy are also described.
In the course outline of my Healthcare Systems Management class, it is stated that its purpose is focused on the "Developing Professional Relationships in Healthcare by conceptualizing the framework for healthcare delivery process". This builds on Purpose 2 of the CA. In the midpoint of my CA, this course has helped me to understand the functions of various healthcare agencies, particularly with hospitals and nursing homes as it relates to retrieving remains to transfer to funeral homes.
