"Alexander the Great had several contributions to the advancement of civilization, but among those one stands out the Hellenization of alexander's empire, in my opinion, is his most significant contribution to the advancement of civilization, or at least the facilitation of further advancement. Through the spread of Hellenistic ideas throughout Alexanders empire different cultures were given a common language and a common currency in the process . This helped many areas that would other wise be shut to the outside world connect and flourish, thus allowing those culture to sustain themselves and create vast cities:
