What I saw is that the Assessment was used "to improve learning focuses on how well students are learning what the teacher intend for them to learn. By establishing learning objectives, assessment methods were used to measure selected learning outcomes to see whether or not the objectives have been met for the course or program" (www.assessment.uconn.edu).
