Problem:
CBT is a modality of counselling that I resonate with the most (for now). Specifically, the way CBT counsellors look at the interactions between all components of our lives and acknowledge the differences in responses from individuals is rooted in our past experiences. As someone who has worked closely with clients who have experienced complex trauma, this is extremely important as every client is different and will respond or show different resiliency to different scenarios.
I specifically enjoyed how CBT normalizes mental health disorders and represents diagnosis' as a point on a spectrum (Kennerley et al., 2017). This approach remains contemporary, as mental health issues have increased since the pandemic, and more individuals are coming out and bringing awareness to mental health.
Are there any principles you foresee having difficulty aligning with in practice? Why?
