Application of evidence-based practices in human services

Assignment task:

Respond thoroughly to the comment below and ask one question

In this course, I have acquired three important lessons regarding the application of evidence-based practices in human services. On the macro level, I have understood that the successful implementation of EBP is impossible without the support of organizational culture and leadership. Individual practitioners cannot be trained alone regarding evidence-based interventions, and the whole organization has to develop supportive systems, devote sufficient resources, and promote learning and quality improvement as a culture (Hall & Roussell, 2017). The absence of this systemic commitment presents an insurmountable obstacle to the implementation of what has been learnt, even by the best-intentioned practitioners.

The second lesson I learned is the paramount significance of having a skill to critically analyze and translate the research results into practical application. The difference between the controlled research environments and the sloppiness of the human services work is often very wide. Good practitioners and researchers have to be good consumers of research and be able to find the pertinent information, evaluate its quality, and apply evidence-based interventions. This is also a requirement to be ready to give back the practice-based evidence to the body of research in a systematic way, through documentation and outcome tracking.

I intend to practice as a licensed clinical psychologist in the community to improve mental health through health and wellness after graduation, where I will treat diverse people who experience various stressors. The knowledge of organizational dynamics will enable me to present the case of training resources and coordinate with supervisors to establish the policies that are proper and easy to implement. My evaluation abilities in research will keep me abreast of the relevant interventions, and I will also be able to modify them accordingly to suit the cultural background of my client and their circumstances. Finally, I find it useful to have continuous communication between research and practice. It will assist me in documenting my findings more systematically. Such findings can subsequently be used as helpful insights in future practice and policy-making in community-based mental health. Need Assignment Help?
