Aout the second pair which is tested with kmno4 both

Problem- When conducting the unsaturation test, I realized that the first pair of 4-methylcyclohexanol and 4-methylcyclohexene which is tested with Br2 in CCl4 having a phenomenon such that the 4-methylcyclohexene needs more drops of Br2 to change into red than the 5-methylcyclohexanol. About the second pair which is tested with KMnO4, both 4-methylcyclohexanol and 4-methylcyclohexene need only 1 drop to change into violet. Can you explain why these phenomena happened like that?
