Target has approached our class with a problem they would like solved on employee motivation. In class, you and your team discussed several solutions and received feedback on them from the Target employees and managers. Now, it's time to write up your recommendations in a memo format. You should address your memo to your instructor, who will serve as the managing partner for our class consulting firm. For Target Company to improve in production, employees should be motivated as they will actively contribute to the Company by bringing new ideas and solutions to a problem that crop up. Keeping workers driven sometimes is challenging. There are a number of factors that can improve the motivation of the employee's for instance personal investment and rewards and pay.

Employee Participation

A judolike approach is required to motivate employees. The company should find the locus of the energy of an employee and locus it in achieving the organizational goals. Solutions should be pulled out of the employees instead of forcing them with the argument of the management. To get the attention of the employees, an organization needs to turn the tables. This prompts them to clear the obstacles impeding the motivation of the employees. The company management needs to rethink what problems they can be motivated to do. This will help the company in getting the best from the employees regardless of their abilities and skills.

Goal-setting Theory

Another way the problem of employee motivation can be solved is by making the employees aware of the goals of the company both short-term and long-term and the progress in achieving those goals.

Employees should be made aware of the salon's goals, short and long-term financial plans and progress towards those goals. When employees are aware of the direction the company is moving in, it creates a sense of security. When the employees have been shown the direction where the business is heading to, they will do all it takes to ensure that the goals of the business are achieved. This only happens when the employees know that the success of the business will be their success too. Where the vision and goals are clear, it is easy for the employee to triumph.

Employers and managers should always think outside the box when they are looking at the solutions to complex problems. The organization should rise up to motivate the workforce to do their best to get through the complex problems.
