Adolescence is represented by change transmogrifying

Adolescence is represented by change, transmogrifying individuals from childhood into adulthood. It is no coincidence that the onset of adolescence is marked by multiple changes, ranging from biological (puberty), mental (shifting to the final stage of Piaget's Cognitive development), and social (a ubiquitous entrance into high school). However, cognition, specifically through Piaget's theories, doesn't seem concise as it should.

Adolescents, as part of their coming of age, are required to learn particular habits and lifestyles. They are required to learn how to think critically, how to make decisions for themselves, and how to exercise cognitive control. They are also expected to reduce their seemingly inherent narcissism.

Heretofor, how can we, as a society, most aptly imbue these cognitive talents into the developing youth? What obstacles may prevent the instructors, the parents, and the societal figures at large from passing these skills? How would you teach these mental assets to the developing adolescents?

Elaborate and support your reasons.
