4. Watch the video in the From the Expert pages, and, as appropriate, follow any instructions there.

6. Complete the Assignments listed below. See your syllabus for the specific points or percentages for each assignment and due dates.

Activity 1: Introductions

Your facilitator will post an introduction in the "Introductions" Discussion Forum. Using the facilitator's introduction as a model, introduce yourself to the class including:

1. Your contact information: name, email address, location, and time zone (phone number optional).

2. Your job title.

3. Hobbies, interests, and any other relevant information about yourself for the course.

4. Include a brief reflection on one or two of the Ignatian Jesuit Values(ethics, social justice, men/women for others, God in all things, and/or global awareness) and reflect on what Jesuit Values means to you as they relate to this course.

5. Any additional information required by your facilitator.

After your initial posting, review and comment on discussion responses from at least two other classmates. Your participation postings should indicate that you want to socially network with your peers. Though this Introduction activity is not graded, it is required.

Important! Your introduction must be posted by Wednesday of Week 1 in order to confirm your registration for this class, as well as to indicate your commitment to participate.

Assignment 1: Discussions

Join your classmates in the forum discussion for this week. Address the articles presented by the group members from this week. Reply to two or more of your peers' responses providing substantive feedback or comments. Check back throughout the week to continue the discussion.

Discussion 1:

This week, members from Group #1 will each be posting a current event article (If there are four team members then four different articles will be posted).

These need to be posted by Wednesday evening. Those of you who are not in the group need to respond at least once to each of the current events by adding value beyond what has already been posted. If you are posting your opinion make sure it is backed up with either logic or data.

Detailed explanation: Each week members from a group will find an article related to this course, summarize it into their own words 1-2 paragraphs, and post it by Wednesday night. Be sure to post the link to the full article for everyone to review. Then between Thursday and Sunday night, everyone in the class needs to comment on these postings.

Discussion 2:

Use a job hunting website (e.g. monster.com, careers.com, indeed or your school's career website) to find job postings for two of the information systems and two of the information analysis careers discussed in the chapter. Compare and contrast information systems careers and information analysis careers in your findings.

Delivery: Refer to the instructions in the Course Overview for specific information on days and times to respond to the weekly discussion postings.

Assignment 2: Course Project - Overview

Take time this week to review the requirements for the course project.

The first step in this process is to review this document on Chinese Fishing

The course project has a number of deliverables throughout the course. The course project details and specific deliverables are outlined in the following document. Your first deliverable is due in Week 4 but it's a culmination of the prior weeks work. Keep in mind that this is a group course project and each group member must do their part. The team is not going to do your part! During week 1 you will be assigned to a group and you will work throughout the course with your team to deliver the course project. You will select one member of your group to submit the required course project deliverables to the Dropbox.

Again, take time this week to review the course project requirements and be sure to work with your facilitator to clarify any questions you may have regarding the project.
